Bhubaneswar, May 2: Amiya Kumar Mallick and Srabani Nanda clinched gold medals in the men’s and the women’s 100 metre race respectively on the second day of the 19th Federation Cup National Athletic Championship at Mangalore, Saturday.
But star sprinter Dutee Chand had to be satisfied with a silver medal after finishing with the second place. Amiya clocked a timing of 10.56 second, while Srabani took 11.59 sec to finish the race. Strangely, Dutee took 11.86 second to be behind Srabani.
Purnima Hembram will take part in the heptatholon, while Srabani and Dutee will participate in the 200 metre race Sunday. Based on the performance in the tournament, Indian team will be selected for the Asian Athletic Championship at Wuhan of China.
