Bhubaneswar: Giving a much-needed relief to the state government, the agitating anganwadi workers Saturday decided to suspend their protests until the government concedes their demands.
‘‘We have suspended the protests for a few days and will submit a charter of demands (addressed to Prime Minister) to all BDOs between November 1 and 7. The strike was suspended as the state government met 50 per cent of our demands,” said Anjali Patel, general secretary, All Orissa Anganwadi Workers’ Association, hoping other demands would be conceded.
Over one lakh workers, on strike for the past 40 days, have been demanding a salary of `18,000pm and regularisation of their services.
Women and Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal Friday urged the protesting workers to return to their work so as to restore normalcy in the rural mother and child care centres under ICDS. PNN
