Anandapur: For more than 60 families in Soy Sahi under Gayalamunda panchayat of Anandapur block in Kendujhar district, the daily struggle for drinking water has finally eased, with two tubewells now providing relief to the remote hamlet. For years, the residents had depended on a single well for their drinking water needs, often facing difficulties, particularly during the summer months.
Located around 70 km from the Anandapur block headquarters, the hamlet had long struggled with limited access to drinking water. After learning about the villagers’ difficulties, environmentalist Trilochan Sahoo visited Soy Sahi and interacted with residents to understand their problems first-hand.
He subsequently took up the matter with the CM, Governor, Kendujhar district administration, Anandapur Sub-Collector and Block Development Officer, seeking a permanent solution to the drinking water crisis. Following directions from the district administration and Anandapur Sub-Collector Nilamadhab Suna, a new tubewell was installed in the locality, and the existing defunct tubewell was repaired.
