Bhubaneswar, May 2: The understanding of different types of light, the basics of photo composition and the use of digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras were among the things that were in focus at a two-day workshop on photography that started at Sahid Nagar in the city Saturday.
“The main aim of organising the workshop is to teach aspiring photographers the basics of photography and DSLR cameras. In this workshop, we are going teach people how to handle the camera, the basic properties of the DSLR, adjustment of light, editing, and about lenses,” said Anup Bajaj, one of the organisers of the workshop.
The workshop will delve into topics such as megapixels, photo quality, shooting modes, exposure, and auto focus. The advanced classes will deal with white balance, shutter speed and its result, depth of field, different lenses and their result, understanding of camera modes, filters and accessories.
As many as 16 people have enrolled for the workshop. “We organise such workshops every two months to help people understand the use of DSLR cameras. We take a nominal fee for the workshop. For the basic photography we charge Rs 700, while for the advanced course the fee varies from Rs 800 to Rs 1,200. Our aim is to help people learn how to use a camera,” said Bajaj.
“People often purchase DSLR to fulfill a passion for photography. However, the lack of fundamental knowledge of using a DSLR forces them to keep their camera locked up in a cupboard. Even if they use it, they lack the knowledge about focus, light adjustment, and shutter speed. So we are trying to give them theoretical and practical knowledge of using a DSLR,” said Sutanu Das, a trainer from Kolkata.
“Our basic objective is to enhance the skill of people who have passion for photography, so that they are able to click pictures with optimum quality,” said Das.
