Bhubaneswar: Noted Poet and short story writer Banaja Devi was honoured with Sarala Award -2017, here, Thursday. The event marked the 38th edition of the awards ceremony organised by IMFA. Devi was conferred the Award by the chief guest on the occasion, Padmashree Mamang Dai. Devi received a cash award of Rs 5 lakh along with a citation.
On the occasion, renowned vocalist Dr. Ghasiram Mishra was conferred with Ila Panda Sangeet Samman. Both Mishra and Das received cash awards of Rs 1.5 lakh each along with citations. The annual Sarala Award was instituted in 1979 by IMPaCT. Sarala Award is recognised as the foremost literary award of Odisha.
Banaja Devi was selected for the award for her short story compilation work ‘Kathapua’.
