New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted Odisha’s rich culinary and agricultural heritage in the 134th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, praising the state’s traditional summer drink ‘Bela Pana’ and the famed Suvarnarekha mangoes, Sunday.
Addressing the nation amid an intense heatwave affecting several parts of the country, Modi urged people to take precautions, stay hydrated, and adopt traditional, locally available remedies to beat the scorching summer.
Emphasising India’s diverse food culture under the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”, PM Modi said many indigenous summer drinks, rooted in regional traditions and home kitchens, offer natural relief from rising temperatures.
Mentioning popular regional refreshments such as Aam Panna from North India, Lassi from Punjab, and Sattu Sherbet from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister gave special recognition to Odisha’s iconic ‘Bela Pana’.
