BeMC becomes ‘people-friendly’ on cleanliness

Berhampur: The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) is set to keep the Silk City clean and green. The civic body has developed an app called ‘Safa’ through which garbage picking vehicles of BeMC can be better organised and streamlined.

Apart from routine door-to-door garbage picking by BeMC, residents can book garbage vehicles through this app as and when they require. This was decided at a review meeting of the civic body Tuesday, Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange informed.

BeMC authorities are going to put the app on a trial run shortly and will introduce another app on cleanliness. Notably, the district administration has been taking such aggressive initiatives as the country will observe Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary this year.

Apart from above, District Collector Kulange urged R&B authorities to expedite road reconstruction work following pipeline laying for the mega drinking water project at Janibili.

On the other hand, Ganjam Collector reviewed the progress on lifting of stray cattle from roads and emphasised on successful implementation of the ‘Integrated Traffic Management System’, devised for effective traffic management in Ganjam district.

Sub-Collector Shinde Dattatraya Bhausaheb, Deputy Commissioner Sourindra Routray, District Chief Veterinary Officer Trinath Nayak and senior officials of BeMC attended the meeting.
