Rourkela: Uditnagar police arrested five persons here and seized over Rs 4, 17,000 from their possession during the third India-West Indies T20 game, Tuesday. A number of mobile phones and laptops were also confiscated from their possession.
The five accused have been identified as Uttam Sharma of Nal road, Uma Singh of Basanti colony, Raju Lodhi of Plant site, Manpreet singh of Gandhi Road, Md Rafique of Nala road.
According to officials, acting on a tip-off, the police raided the hideout from which the accused were operating during the game and arrested them. Police are also examining the phones of the arrested persons to ascertain if there are others involved in the racket.
