Bhubaneswar flyover crash leaves four injured, driver critical

Bhubaneswar: Four people were injured in a head-on collision between two cars on the Bomikhal flyover in Bhubaneswar Saturday, a source said.

The cars, a Hyundai i20  and a Skoda, were damaged in the crash and later seized by Saheed Nagar police. The injured were rescued and taken to Capital Hospital for treatment. The condition of the i20 driver is reported to be critical.

Police said the accident took place when the i20, cruising on the wrong side of the flyover from the direction of Esplanade Mall, collided with the Skoda.

Eyewitnesses said a woman was travelling as a passenger in the i20, while two young men were in the Skoda.

The impact of the collision was so severe that it startled people nearby with a loud noise, police added.
