Bhubaneswar: An unidentified hacker, suspected to be either from Russia or Ukraine, made an unsuccessful attempt to hack the website of Justice BP Das Commission, which has been assigned by the state government to suggest reforms in Srimandir, Saturday.
Revealing this news, Orissa Computer Application Centre (OCAC) Tuesday said an attempt was made to tamper with the commission’s website – www.sjatic.odisha.gov.in. The website was created for the citizens to send feedback to the commission vis-à-vis ongoing reforms for the Jagannath Temple. The website has been shut down following the incident.
While tracking the IP address, OCAC found the website was leading to a hacker from Russia or Ukraine, who had attempted to hack the website through a proxy server. As the commission comes under the Orissa law department, OCAC will inform the department about the hacking bid before restoring the website.
The cyber cell of Orissa Crime Branch has initiated an investigation into the incident. However, it is not known whether any official data has been compromised on the website.
This is the first time that such an incident has occurred with the website or the temple itself.
