Bhubaneswar, June 21: Bidya Mishra was adjudged MAX Raja Shundari at the Raja Shundari contest organised in the city Tuesday. Paramita Saha became the first runner-up and Riteshmita Rath was second runner-up at the event.
The final event comprised three rounds and the contestants were judged on presentation skills and confidence followed by a question-answer session.
About 13 contestants were selected for the finals. They walked the ramp before a judging panel comprising Namrata Chhada, former member of Orissa Women’s Commission, Gargi Mohanty, actor, and Swapna Pati, social worker.
Namrata found the event interesting. “Raja festival is the celebration of womanhood and I feel that celebrating womanhood is something very important to do. It is a privilege to be a woman and a woman alone can understand this,” she said.
Gargi, in turn, spoke of the need for a person to identify one’s self. “One of the most courageous things one can do is to identify oneself. Know who you are, what you believe in and where you want to be. Only then can one achieve success. MAX is doing a great job by celebrating the festival with all the beautiful women in town,” she said.
The festival also gave the organisers an avenue to connect with real women. Jiten Mahendra, Vice president- marketing at lifestyle International said: “We want to strongly associate MAX with the core theme of the festival, which is to connect with real women in the country. We want to integrate the event into the cultural calendar by portraying us as a trusted and active friend of every woman in the city,” he said.
