Bhubaneswar: Top political leaders, including veteran BJP leader LK Advani, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, will attend a programme for the release of a pictorial biography of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik here, January 27.
Former President Pranab Mukherjee will release the book titled ‘The Tall Man: Biju Patnaik’ by S Ganeshan in the presence of an august audience, January 27 at 4.30pm at Utkal Mandap here.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will preside over the programme, while renowned journalist and writer Prabhu Chawla will present a brief outline on the book.
The programme is being organised by the Biju Patnaik Birth Centenary Committee.
BJD MP and party chief whip in Lok Sabha Tathagata Satpathy, a member the committee, said that the book unveiling will be an apolitical programme.
Satpathy said that it’s a matter of pride for the people of Orissa that a book on such a great personality is being
released.
He further said that all leading personalities and citizens of the state along with students’ representatives will be invited to witness the event.
Rejecting allegations that it is a political move by BJD to unite national leaders, chairman of the committee and BJD leader Bed Prakash Agarwalla said senior leaders of various political parties from across the country have been invited to attend the event, in addition to all parliamentarians of the state.
