Basudevpur: An 8-year-old girl was abducted Saturday night from outside her residence in Radhanathpur Adia village under Chandamani marine police limits of Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district.
Police said two unidentified youths were lying in wait on the road in the dark when the girl stepped outside around 8pm to use the toilet. They allegedly forced her onto a motorcycle and fled.
The victim’s elder sister saw the men taking her younger sibling away on the bike and raised an alarm. Family members and neighbours searched the area but failed to trace her, after which they informed Chandamani Marine police.

On the direction of Bhadrak Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Raut, police set up checkpoints across various routes in Basudevpur. Basudevpur IIC Lopamudra Nayak, Nayakanidihi IIC Rajlaxmi Nayak, Kasia Marine IIC Sabitri Panda and Chandamani Marine IIC Banani Behera led the operation.
SP Raut visited the village Sunday, met the girl’s family and local residents, and directed officers to expedite the investigation.
Bhadrak Sadar SDPO Bichitrananda Sethi has been assigned to probe the case. Police said efforts are underway to rescue the minor girl soon.
