New Delhi: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Wednesday praised the Narendra Modi led Union government for initiating schemes to promote sports in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the party during the discussion on the demands for grants under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for 2019-20 in the Lower House, BJD MP from Kandhamal Achyuta Samanta thanked the finance minister for presenting a budget for development of sports.
“We are on the right path to become the sporting state. The Union government has introduced Khelo India program to revive sports culture in the country at grass-root level,” said Samanta.
Stating that sports is the future of the country, Samanta apprised the House about state government’s initiative to revive sports in Odisha.
“Odisha has become sports capital in the country. We have created world-class infrastructure in the state. We have hosted a lot of tournaments in the state. Odisha is setting future of sports in the country. Odisha sports department singed seven MoUs with seven corporate houses to promote sports like Football, Swimming etc in the state,” Samanta said.
