Bhubaneswar: Reiterating its demand, the state BJP Friday again raised voice for CBI probes into the alleged multi-crore scams involving sapling plantation, Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) and polythene supply to Omfed.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya said, “The Chief Minister is always beating his drum claiming that his government maintains absolute transparency in all matters, but the multi-crore scams in sapling plantation, cooperative banks and supply of polythene to Omfed have exposed the real face of the Chief Minister.”
The Agriculture Minister has admitted a scam in the sapling plantation scheme in Mayurbhanj district, but the Chief Minister is still silent on the matter, Acharya alleged.
While the former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is in jail for his involvement in the Rs 400-crore fodder scam, here Naveen Patnaik is sitting cool as if nothing has happened in the state, he stated.
If he (Naveen) thinks he is not accountable to the people of Odisha, they will give him a befitting reply through ballots, the BJP leader said.
In the past, the state government has set up series of inquiry commissions without any tangible results,” Acharya said, adding, “If the CM does not handover the cases for CBI probe, the BJP will hit the street and also seek legal help,” said Acharya.
Refuting the charges of BJP, BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb said it seems that both the BJP and Acharya are mentally unsound.
“As far as the issue of corruption is concerned, it was debated on the floor of Assembly. The government will take necessary steps in this regard. The ruling party doesn’t need any advice from the BJP spokesperson,” Deb said.
