Bhubaneswar: With the general elections nearing by, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday promised that it will provide permanent land records (pattas), jobs to youths and pucca houses, if the party was voted to power.

Addressing the party’s ‘Pratisruti Samabesh’ here, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made the announcement.

To counter Congress’ ‘Guarantee Card’, the saffron party has started distribution of promise letters to people listing out promises it will fulfill if it came to power in the state.

“PM Narendra Modi has done a lot of things for the poor in the country in the past five years. BJP will provide necessary facilities including pattas, pucca houses, drinking water, toilets, electricity and LPG connections to all people in Odisha,” said Pradhan.

No one will remain landless and will have a pucca house by 2022, he said, adding, all unemployed youths will get jobs or be self employed.

Through the letters, the party is collecting applications from people, who need land patta along with pucca house and another for jobs.

Pradhan also targetted the state government for “failing to provide basic amenities to the people of the state in the past 19 years.”

The government has failed to ensure water supply to all household, pucca houses for all and jobs to youths.

Meanwhile, Congress has added another point in its poll promise. The party has announced to provide at least one job (either government or private) to all households after it comes to power in the state.

Reacting to Pradhan’s promises, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) spokesperson Sameer Dash said, “The BJP had announced to provide two crore jobs each year, Rs 15 lakh in the account of poor and bring back black money. What happened to these promises?”

”People in the country as well as in Odisha have realised that BJP under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi has completely failed to keep its promises made in 2014,” added Dash.

Congress chief whip Taraprasad Bahinipati also commented on the issue and said, “Both BJP and BJD have cheated the people and failed to fulfill their promises. But, Congress delivered whatever promises it had made.”
