BHUBANESWAR: It was a search for the perfect, fashionable and stylish model. Saturday saw an event titled ‘Mr and Miss Bhubaneswar’ at the Bhubaneswar Pavilion, at which the participants progressively competed in four rounds — casual round, creative round, casual round II and final top ten. Satyajeet Tripathy won the Mr Bhubaneswar title while Madhusmita Neog is Miss Bhubaneswar.
As lights flashed, spectators were transported to a spirited evening. In the casual round, the participants walked the ramp and showed both their style and the rhythm of their measured steps as the panel of judges looked on them intently. The judges were Ashwini Lala, winner of the prestigious title Mrs Asia International 2014 who had earlier won the Mrs Asia India contest2014, Roshan Kumar the fashion designer, Kumudini Purty the model, and Ashutosh Sahu, photographer.
In the creative round, the participants showed their designing sense by dressing themselves in different styles. The event was organized by SUNDMUS.
After the Top Ten selections, they again walked the ramp by wearing items designed by eminent fashion designers from Orissa. Competition organiser Ramanjeet Singh said the main focus was on a search for fresh faces from the city who had both the style and a fashion sense. The event, he said, was a success in that respect.
Both the Mr and Miss Bhubaneswar winners were crowned by Mrs Asia international 2014 to loud cheers from the gathering. A cash prize of 5,000 each, a certificate, and a memento formed part of the rewards. This apart, a contract went their way, to be the face of the leading beauty salon of the city for a year, a chance for a calendar shoot and a photo shoot for leading fashion companies dealing in bridal wear, ethnic wear, Indo western wear, western wear, kid’s wear and custom clothes and acquatic designing.
The event also saw a photography competition wherein photographers clicked the ramp show photos. Honours went to the best photos and the best photographer. Amlan Mishra was named the best photographer and given the best photographer award as also a cash reward of Rs 2,000 as prize money
