Bhubaneswar: In a bid to press their longstanding demands, the Block Grant teachers Thursday launched an indefinite strike at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here.
Speaking to reporters, the All Odisha School-College Teachers and Employees’ United Forum convenor Prakash Mohanty said, “In its steering committee meeting, the forum had passed a resolution to put its month-long stir on hold following an assurance from the state government April 19. But we are compelled to hit the streets again as the government has failed to pay heed to our legitimate demands.
“More than one lakh teachers and lecturers from different educational institutions will join the indefinite stir to pressurise the government to fulfill our demands at the earliest.”
