Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) marked World Veterinary Day by organising a special mass anti-rabies vaccination drive across nine institutions in City, reinforcing its commitment to public health and animal welfare.
The initiative was conducted under the ongoing Mass Dog Vaccination (MDV) programme and focused on sterilising stray and community dogs to curb the spread of rabies, a deadly yet preventable disease.
BMC’s Veterinary doctors, interns from, along with trained dog catchers and para-veterinary staff, participated in the campaign.
The vaccination camp was carried out at Sainik School Institute of Physics, Kalinga Stadium, Capital Hospital, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and a residential welfare society at Kalinga Nagar (K-8).
Dogs within these institutional and residential premises were vaccinated to ensure smooth coverage. A total of 374 dogs were vaccinated during the special drive.
