Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) continued its mass sanitation campaign with an extensive cleanliness drive in the Khandagiri Bari area Sunday morning.
The drive witnessed active participation from BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, standing committee chairperson Biranchi Narayan Mahasupakar, corporator Kiran Bala Majhi, local residents, and sanitation teams.
The initiative, held under the theme ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata’, aims to promote community-driven cleanliness and hygiene.

As part of the drive, various activities were undertaken, including wall-to-wall sweeping, spraying of mosquito repellent oil, cleaning of drainage, and repairing streetlights. Residents from K8, K4, and K5 localities of Khandagiri Bari actively joined the campaign, appreciating the initiative and contributing voluntarily to the efforts.
Senior citizens present at the event remarked that such community-led efforts are not only impactful but also highly inspirational.
Later, BMC staff and sanitation workers extended the drive near the SUM Hospital area.
Notable attendees included former corporator Dillip Majhi, additional commissioner Ratnakar Sahu, Kailash Chandra Das, and deputy commissioner N Ganesh Babu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor expressed satisfaction over the public response and praised the joint efforts of BMC’s sanitation division, partnering institutions, and the local community.
“Public participation is a key to sustainable cleanliness, and it’s heartening to see such enthusiasm,” she said.
BMC’s mass sanitation drives continue to foster community engagement and reinforce the importance of collective responsibility for a cleaner, healthier Bhubaneswar.
