Bhubaneswar:Around 300 young and enterprising “super bikers” of the city undertook a freedom ride to mark the 71st Independence Day. They were part of a super bikers’ club here. The event was organised by the super bikers’ clubs in the state, comprising enthusiasts from the Bhubaneswar Super Bikers’ Club (BSC), the Bikers’ Republic Orissa (BRO), the Orissa Harley Owners Group (OHOG), the Revolution bikers and the Motorcyclist Group Orissa (TMO). The riders were drawn from several parts of Orissa including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri, said Subham Rout, one of the participants. The team started the rally from Sandys Tower. Another rally was started from Regional Science Centre area where vintage and antique bikes were exhibited and had taken part in the rally. “The main purpose of this ride was to mark Independence Day
and spread the messages of road safety, environment cleanliness and the spirit of brotherhood among the people,” said Stutam Das, a biker and B.Tech student. “We ride together on this proud day,” said Subham Rout of revolution bikers. Before the bike rally, the bikers’ club members gathered in the city and on this occasion they also felicitated Sugat Satpathy who recently completed a trip from Bhubaneswar to Ladakh. He had started the journey from Bhubaneswar July 2 and ended at July 22 in Khardungla, a mountain pass in the Ladakh region, also cited as the highest vehicle-accessible pass in the world with an 18,000 ft elevation. In his trip he crossed Delhi, Varanasi, Agra, Sringar and Manali. Sugat, a resident of Bhubaneswar and a businessman at that, had also taken a trip to Bhutan and Sikkim in 2016 and 2017 respectively. He said he loved to go places, and one day wants to undertake an all-India journey.
