Phulbani, April 3: Niranjan Mallik, an ex-service man of Dadpaju Kumbhergaru under Khajuripada police limits in Kandhamal district was brutally killed late Wednesday night.
Niranjan’s younger brother Jaykrushna, his wife Baby and Govind, a constable of the area, hacked him to death, the victim’s wife Brundabati alleged in a complaint lodged with the police. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case. Dog squad and a forensic team have been pressed in and the accused would be nabbed soon, IIC Akhaya Kumar Ghadei said.
According to the police sources, Niranjan divorced his first wife and married Brundabati about 12 years ago which didn’t go down well with his younger brother. Jaykrushna, had wanted his elder brother to marry his wife Baby instead. His aim was to handle the income that includes the pension money of his elder brother through his wife as Jaykrushna was jobless. But the proposal was not acceptable to Niranjan. However, Niranjan was extremely fond of Jaykrushna since his childhood as he used to help him financially from time to time even after his retirement.
After failing to have control over Niranjan’s earnings, he started collecting money from him forcibly. But the main hindrance in his objective was Niranjan’s second wife Brundabati.
“The three killed my husband when I was absent from my home”, Brundabati said in her complaint with police.
