Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, a paramilitary force jawan working in the Border Security Force (BSF) committed suicide by consuming poison outside the house of his beloved at Madhapur village under Patna police limits in Keonjhar district Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sanjeev Sardar (25), a BSF jawan posted in Gujarat and a native of of Baunshuli village under Turumunga police limits. His body was recovered about 50 metres from the girl’s house and his mouth was frothing.
It is suspected that he consumed poison-laced food, as he died vomiting. Locals alleged that he took the extreme step after the marriage of the girl he loved was fixed with another youth for Tuesday.
A pall of gloom descended the area, as police sent the body for post-mortem and started an investigation.
Police also seized some papers and medicines from his bag. His identity card revealed he was a BSF jawan posted in Gujarat.
Further investigations are on and the actual reason behind the suicide can only be ascertained after the arrival of his family members, Patna IIC Pramodini Sahu said.
