Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Pratap Jena Wednesday claimed assistance under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) has been availed in 1.82 crore instances since its launch in the state.
Jena was speaking at the 14th International Conference on Vectors and Vector Borne Diseases in the city. He said, “We feel proud to say that within four months, from August 15 to December 15, 2018, a total of 1.82 crore instances have been recorded where people have availed healthccare assistance through the state health insurance scheme.”
The minister also boasted of reduction in cases of Malaria in a single year to 84 per cent due to the intervention of the state government scheme. He said, “From 3.23 lakh malaria cases between January and September 2017 it has come down to 55,368 cases during the same period in 2018. Odisha has achieved a record 84 per cent decline in a single year.”
The minister also urged the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) to take leadership in supporting and strengthening the state in its drive for elimination of malaria as well as other vector-borne diseases. I would urge to set up a research hub at RMRC, Bhubaneswar to take up this endeavour in a big way.”
