post news network, Bhubaneswar, April 29: Students of the Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium (BJEM) School celebrated their 41st annual prize distribution and cultural programme, titled ‘Dreamscape’, on their school premises in city, Wednesday, with enthusiasm and fanfare.
The event commenced with the inauguration of the new Plus 2 academic block by the school and mass education minister Debi Prasad Mishra and tourism and culture minister Ashok Chandra Panda. Principal of the school, JK Mohanty, presented the annual report in which previous achievements of the school were highlighted.
The function culminated in the much awaited prize distribution ceremony in which dignitaries gave away prizes to the 17 most deserving students for their outstanding performance in the last academic year.
Upasana Mohanty received the most prestigious student of the year award titled ‘BJEM Blue 2014-15’. “I always tried my best not to be first in class but to learn everything that the teachers were telling me. I dedicate this award to my parents and teachers. I will always remain grateful to them,” said Mohanty.
Meanwhile, Mishra congratulated all awardees and motivated them to keep working hard to do better in future.
Students enthralled the audience present with their endearing and enthusiastic performance in a spectacular cultural extravaganza. They exhibited their hidden talents and emotions through dances that included Odissi, garba, panchabhoot etc., a dance drama based on ‘save the girl child’ theme. Vibrant music and highly coordinated movements set the tone for various folk dances. Besides students performed songs which were dedicated to the motherland.
Chairman of the school Gagan Chandra Das, manager PK Jena and vice-principal Sandhya Jena
were also present on the ocassion.
