Career-best show by Aditi

Arkansas (US):  Woman golfer Aditi Ashok secured a career-best tied 25th finish in LPGA’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship which concluded here Sunday. Aditi totalled eight-under 208 with rounds of 70, 64 and 71.

In the last round, played Sunday Aditi attacked the greens aggressively trying for a top 10 finish. She had five birdies, three bogeys and a crippling double bogey. At one stage it was 10-under and within a shout of a top 10 finish. But a double bogey on par-4 12th hole halted her charge.

At the top So Yeon Ryu, the world’s third ranked player, captured her fifth career win on the LPGA. With her victory, Ryu took the No. 1 in the rankings for the first time in her career.

Ryu posted a final round 69 to finish the week at 18-under par, which sets a new tournament record previously set in 2016 by Lydia Ko, who finished at 17-under par.

Lahiri disappoints

Meanwhile at Cromwell, also in the US, Anirban Lahiri finished tied 17th in the 2017 Travelers Championships. He started the final round Sunday with a birdie-birdie flourish and went all out to attempt another top 10 showing. His first six holes saw four birdies and two bogeys, but then putts became reluctant to fall and he managed only two more birdies against one bogey for a card of three-under 67.

The total of six-under 274 saw Lahiri finish T-17 following up on his previous finish of T-2 at the Memorial. He now has two Top-3 finishes and another three in Top-20. He is now 43rd in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Meanwhile, there was a dramatic finish at the top as Jordan Spieth holed out from the bunker for birdie and then win in a sudden death playoff on the par-4 18th hole. Daniel Berger finished second.
