Rayagada, Feb 22: Former Rayagada collector Shasi Bhushan Padhi is likely to be quizzed by a Crime Branch team in connection with the district welfare officer (DWO)
suicide case.
The CB team which has been investigating the case for three days has already interrogated former PA of Rayagada Integrated Tribal Development Agency Gorachand Gomango.
According to a report, the team went to Gomango’s residence late Friday night and quizzed him for an hour in connection with the case. Gomango also acknowledged the
report.
As per information given by a senior police official, the CB team led by deputy superintendent of police Ramesh Chandra Sethi quizzed six employees of the district welfare office Friday. The team also collected information and documents pertaining to the case from government offices Saturday.
The CB team reportedly went to the collector’s office again Sunday and collected information regarding all meetings held after Dhaneswar Prusty had taken charge as the DWO. It also collected documents related to all review meetings held before organising the collector’s public grievances redressal cell hearing during the period.
The police official claimed the team is investigating whether the former collector and ITDA PA had been harassing Prusty as mentioned in his suicidal note.
Meanwhile, Padhi who was shunted by the stage government Saturday handed over the charge to ADM Laxmikant Behera.
