Bhubaneswar: The CBI arrested Wednesday Surendra Nayak belonging to Colony Sahi of Dhenkanal town. His house had been raided Tuesday by CBI officials as part of a nationwide crackdown in an alleged child pornography and sexual abuse case.
The raids were conducted at 76 places in 14 states and UTs of India. Nayak was nabbed for allegedly circulating, storing and viewing Child Sexual Exploitation Material (CSEM) through various social media platforms/groups.
He was produced in the Special CBI Court here and remanded to three days in custody. He was then taken to Delhi by CBI officials.
As per information available from various sources, it has been alleged that there are more than 50 groups with more than 5,000 individuals involved in child pornography and sharing of child sexual material.
Earlier Nayak had told reporters Tuesday that he had joined a group named ‘Desi MMS’ two months ago and used to share video links in various social media groups. In return, he had received USD 20 (Rs 1,500).
