Bhubaneswar: AIFF’s developmental side Indian Arrows would look to continue their winning momentum when they face a superior Churchill Brothers in an I-league encounter here at the Kalinga Stadium, Sunday.
After managing just a win from their first six games, the Floyd Pinto-led side snapped up four points from their last two games drawing against Aizwal FC and scrapping past Gokulam Kerala. On the other hand the Goan side are coming after two losses and sits two positions above with 13 points from nine games.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Pinto said, “Our top priority would be not conceding any goals and keeping a clean sheet. We haven’t conceded any in the last two games and got four points.”
Churchill head coach Petre Gigiu however asserted that it’s an important game for them and they have to put their best on the field. “We have lost last two games. It’s a very important game against a young side and they are very dangerous,” Gigiu said. “The league is very interesting because there is not very much gap between the top teams for the title race.”
Telecast row
Kolkata: Seven I-League clubs, including defending champions Minerva Punjab, will meet here Sunday to discuss their future course of action after AIFF decided to cut down the number of matches to be telecast live. The other member clubs are Chennai City FC, NEROCA FC, Aizawl FC, Gokulam Kerala FC, Real Kashmir FC and Shillong Lajong FC. Kolkata’s big two, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, and Goan heavyweights Churchill Brothers are yet to join the new body. The decision comes in after AIFF decided to cut down on the TV coverage to just 31 matches of the remaining 61 in the season.
