BHUBANESWAR: Everything evolves with time, so does rangoli. The splash of colours in geometrical designs has changed its own description in recent times. It’s something each of us can easily relate to as they signify two important things: Colours, which we Indians love, and festivities, which we Indians enjoy with our families. Be it any occasion, a family function or a festival, a rangoli can lift the mood of everyone and can fetch you some quick compliments. Orissa POST interacted with a few experts of rangoli who described it as an art and its variations in modern times.

“Rangoli is unique, bold and will definitely attract much appreciation. Now-a-days, you don’t have to make rangoli only with colour; you can make it attractive by adding flowers, lights, etc. Meaningful rangoli would find its true solace not by the virtue of its beauty but by the virtue of the theme it represents. For that, one should choose modern society themes our Indian culture faces like feminism, secularism, demerits of social media, child labour, human trafficking. All these thoughts can easily be depicted with the help of rangoli. That will make rangoli superior to others,” eminent rangoli designer Ritika Goel said.
