CITY KID BAGS PRIZE A NAT’L SCIENCE FAIR


Bhubaneswar: Soumyadeep Sahu, a Class XII student of DAV Public School, Unit-8, Bhubaneswar has bagged the prize for the best project at the National Science Fair held in New Delhi from December 1 to 4. The project titled ‘Ennioa’, meaning ‘sense’ in Greek, is a platform for building applications that utilise the skin as a medium of communication. It seeks to employ its applications in helping the blind and deaf in obstacle detection, issuing military commands, helping all sorts of hobbies and giving both humans and animals extra-sensory powers in a non-invasive discreet fashion, all through the use of different platforms of vibrations.

Ennioa was among the 50 projects shortlisted from the 500 submitted for the ‘Make Tomorrow for Innovation Generation’ national showcase in New Delhi. The event was organized by a partnership between NITI Aayog, Atal Innovation Mission, Department of Science and Technology, INTEL and Indo-US Science and Technology Forum.

Soumyadeep gives the credit of his success to teachers and the principal of his school for giving him the opportunity and his family.

A patent application has been filed for project and is in the final stages of approval. It is to be showcased at an event in the US next year.
