Bhadrak: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislator from Bhadrak Sanjib Kumar Mallick had a close shave early Wednesday morning after the vehicle in which he was travelling was hit by a speeding truck near Jaraka area of Jajpur district, a source informed.
According to the source, Mallick was on his way to Bhadrak from Bhubaneswar by a sports utility vehicle (bearing registration number OD-22 R-0001) along with one of his associates and the SUV driver.

The speeding truck which was coming from the opposite direction hit the SUV. However, three persons on board the SUV narrowly escaped the road mishap with minor injuries, an eyewitness said.
On being informed by locals, Jaraka police reached the accident site and detained the truck. The injured were rescued and sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. The truck driver fled from the spot soon after the incident. A probe in this connection is underway.
