Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik starts a review of performance of state government departments in a phased manner from today,Tuesday. In a letter to all ministers, the CM had said this would be done in the presence of secretaries of various departments. This comes a time when the BJD-led government is due to complete the fourth year of its fourth termMay 21.
On the first day of the review, the CM will look closely at the performance of the departments of School and Mass Education, Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Development, Law, and Family and Welfare. The ministers have been asked to apprise the CM of three major achievements and successes of each department. After assessing the performance, the CM will issue a report card. Related matters would be discussed at a meeting of the council of ministers and made public.
“The chief minister has been doing such performance review every year, and this is a welcome step,” said School and Mass Education minister Badri Narayan Patra.
