Bhubaneswar, August 18: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will distribute 500 laptops to meritorious students of Plus II from Khurda district.
District officials are gearing up to organise a function for the distribution of laptops at Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College here. A date, however, is yet to be fixed.
Meanwhile, the higher education department has expressed its concern at what it called a “callous” attitude of the information and technology department regarding the delivery of required number of laptops.
At a recent meeting held by the Chief Secretary, it was decided that the nodal colleges in collaboration with the IT department will complete distribution of 15,000 laptops by the end of August.
However, the higher education department recently found out that only 250 laptops out of the 15,000 have been received by some nodal colleges till August 14.
Higher education department principal secretary GK Dhal asked the IT department to expedite the supply of the required number of laptops to the nodal colleges so that the process could be completed by the end of August.
