Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police has intensified its statewide special drive ‘Daman’ against criminals and anti-social elements, executing 109 non-bailable warrants (NBWs), registering 148 Excise Act cases and 15 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act since the campaign began September 21.
The campaign, being conducted under the direction of Director General of Police Binayatosh Mishra, is being carried out in coordination with district police, Commissionerate Police, Railway Police and other police units to strengthen law and order and ensure the safety and security of people during the upcoming festive season.
Since the launch of the campaign, police have executed 109 NBWs and initiated action against 40 persons under Section 129 of the Bharatiya Nagar ik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The drive against violations of the Excise Act has resulted in the registration of 148 cases and the arrest of six persons. Police have seized large quantities of country-made and foreign liquor and other excise materials
