Phulnakhara: The corpse of an unidentified man was found floating in Sidhua river in Khalarda area, under Cuttack Sadar police limits, here Friday.
According to sources, locals spotted the body and informed the Cuttack Sadar police. The cops rushed to the spot and fished out the body before sending it for autopsy to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Though locals claim the man might have had slipped into deep waters while bathing in the river, the police is awaiting the post-mortem report, after which it would take necessary actions. “The guy seemed to be in his 30s. He wore a pair of shorts with a full-sleeved shirt. We’re waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of the death,” Cuttack Sadar inspector in-charge (IIC) Sudhanshu Bhushan Jena said.
The police are leaving no stone unturned to ascertain the body’s identity. Jena said a case of unnatural death (4/19) has been registered in this regard.
