Jeypore: In a tragic incident, a couple and their son were killed while two others were seriously injured after their car hit a tree near Tapajodi under Boipariguda police limits here in Koraput district Friday morning.
The deceased persons were identified as Chaitanya Mohanty, his wife and a minor son.
The injured persons were rushed to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. Later, they were taken to Vizag for further treatment.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 4.30AM when a car carrying five members of a family was travelling from Kakatpur in Puri district to Malkangiri. Half-way, the vehicle rammed into a tree near Tapajodi on NH 326 after the driver lost balance on the wheels.
Hearing the noise, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the family members from the accident site and initially admitted them to Boipariguda Community Health Centre (CHC).
Later, they had to be shifted Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital where Chaitanya, his wife and son were declared dead.
