Cuttack witnesses first Professional Cycle Race

Cuttack: The Silver city witnessed its first ever professional bicycle race Sunday near Sri Sri University, organized by Cuttack Cyclist group. The race was held in Individual time trial format where every rider races to clock the best time on a circuit.

Around twenty riders from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Bhadrak and Jajpur attempted a total of seven steep hills over a course of 10 km.

Rohit Hembrom, from Rourkela won the race, followed by Swasti Singh also from Rourkela.

Interacting with Orissa Post Rohit said, “I never expected to win. However, the win has further boosted my confidence to participate in more races like this’.

Sanjeeb Panda, an avid cyclist himself said, “The event will inspire more people from the Silver City take up cycling to stay fit and healthy.”

“We got a fantastic response from cyclists across the state for our debut race and we’ll ensure that the following editions of the race are longer, more challenging, and even more fun!”, said Sajal Seth, admin of Cuttack Cyclists group.

Prize money and certificates were awarded to every participant.
