Nischintakoili: A cyclist was killed and five others were injured in a road accident involving an Indigo car on the Luna river bridge near Asureswar in Cuttack district Thursday. The deceased was Surendra Das, 65, of Gopalpur near Mahanga. The injured were rushed to the community health centre here.
Das on his bicycle was crossing the bridge about 9am when the car hit him. He fell off the bridge, causing the death. The car also hit an auto rickshaw parked near the bridge and injured five of its passengers.
Police seized the vehicle and arrested the driver, Satyaranjan Swain. The body was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, for post mortem.
