Nayagarh, Dec 19: Kuna Das, a notorious criminal involved in several cases of robbery, extortion, loot and firing in Khurda and Nayagarh districts, was killed here Friday during a scuffle with police.
Prasanna Kumar Mishra, an assistant sub-inspector, also sustained injuries and was sent to Cutack-based SCB Medical College and Hospital, SP Manoranjan Mohanty said.
Several cases were pending against Das in police stations of both the districts, Mohanty added. A special team raided his house at about 8 pm Friday, and managed to catch him. As a scuffle ensued, a bullet from his own pistol hit Das’ head and he died on the spot. Another bullet hit Mishra.
