Bhubaneswar: The state government Monday extended the deadline for online renewal and authentication of the applications for the academic year 2016-17 and 2017-18 to December 30 from November 30. The Higher Education department has informed about the decision to the principals of Students’ Academic Management System (SAMS) Resource Centre. The government made it clear that head of the concern institute will be responsible for non validation of documents of any authentic student who had applied for the scholarship. Earlier, gross irregularities were reported in selection of applicants and distribution of scholarship to the students. Following which, the government made the process online. The government provides `10,000 every year to each engineering and professional degree student and PG Merit students, `12,000 to Special Girl Merit, `5,000 to senior Merit and `3,000 to junior merit students who qualify for e-Medhabruti scholarship.
