Gop: Tension ran high at Aingala village under Sarabha panchayat near Gop in Puri district Monday morning after locals detained an ambulance and its staff for reaching late. By the time the ambulance reached there, the woman patient had died.
The deceased was Krushna Barik, wife of Jhatu Barik of Aingala village.
Locals said Krushna complained of severe pain in her abdomen late last night. Her family called up the 108 Ambulance around 1am. It arrived four hours late, around 5am. By this time, the woman had breathed her last.
Irate locals detained the ambulance and its employees for three hours, demanding compensation for the family. The villagers later released them following a discussion with local officials.
