Cuttack, Nov 24: Radha Gobinda Club and Rising Star Club scripted victories in their respective matches of the FAO first division football league played here at the Barabati Stadium, Tuesday.
In the first match played on the day, Radha Gobinda scraped past SBI by a solitary goal. After a barren first half during which both sides missed scoring opportunities, Radha Gobinda Club took the lead in the 54th minute when Kuwar Marandi scored. The winners then resorted to keeping their citadel intact by bring most of their players back in defence – a ploy they succeeded in.
In the other match of the day, Rising Star Club convincingly triumphed 2-0 over Sunrise Club. Guman Shestha scored in 28th minute and a late goal from Adetola Abiodun Oluwasegun in 84th minute helped Rising Star script their second successive win in the league. They were deserved winners as they controlled proceedings for extended periods in both the sessions.
Thursday’s games: Independent Club vs Chand Club; Radha Raman Club vs Jay Durga Club.

Orissa tennis player Chinmay Pradhan and his partner Sidharth Viswakarma stunned top seeds Anvit Bendre and Chandril Sood in a doubles outing of the Gondwana Cup Futures tennis tournament at Raipur, Tuesday. Chinmay and Sidharth won 1-6, 6-2, 10-7. In the super tie-break, lead changed frequently for both the pairs but Chinmay and his partner kept their cool to emerge victorious.
