Malkangiri: Even as rural healthcare is in a shambles, the body of a woman was carried on a bamboo basket by his kin after they were denied a hearse vehicle in Chitrakonda police limits in Malkangiri Sunday.
Reports said, Nirmala, a resident of Majhiguda, was critically wounded in an accident. She was admitted to the Chitrakonda Community Health Centre (CHC). However, she succumbed to injuries.
After post mortem, her body was handed over to her kin. He relatives had asked the hospital authorities to provide them a hearse vehicle or an ambulance to carry the body to their village. As no vehicle was available, the relatives carried the body for several kilometers from there to Majhiguda.
A similar incident had taken place in the area some time back. The incident has caused public resentment here.
