Delang: A man was arrested and forwarded to court Friday at Patanpur Village under Delang tehsil in Puri District for allegedly trying to kill his mother. The accused has been identified as Baikuntha Behera.
According to villagers, Baikuntha had asked Thursday his mother to give him money to travel to his in-laws house. Baikuntha’s mother gave him Rs 500, but he wanted more and that is when an altercation broke out between the two. In a fit of rage Baikuntha attacked his mother with a billhook rendering her senseless with a blow on the head.
Locals rescued the profusely bleeding woman and rushed her to Delang Primary Health Care (PHC). She is now under treatment and her condition is stated to be stable.
On being informed, Sub-Inspector (SI) Upendranath Das reached the spot and arrested Baikuntha.
