Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body of cricket in India. The BCCI is headed by its president. The board was formed in December 1928 as a society, registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act.

BCCI is considered the richest cricket board in the world.

The president of BCCI is elected at the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting. The post was rotated zone-wise across India and had the tenure for maximum three years, but that rotational policy has been done away with.

Grant Govan was its first president and Anthony De Mello its first secretary.

Recently Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been elected as the next president of BCCI.

Maharajkumar of Vizianagram

Maharajkumar of Vizianagram maintained a low profile thereafter for almost two decades. He made a comeback as a cricket administrator and was the president of BCCI from 1954–1957. As the vice-president of the BCCI in 1952, he had played an important role in bringing back Lala Amarnath as the India captain. He successfully promoted Uttar Pradesh’s cricketing profile, making Kanpur centre a Test venue.

Shivlal Yadav

Supreme Court of India had named Shivlal Yadav as a national manager, who would look after the work of BCCI other than IPL-7. This was on temporary basis.

Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar is a former Indian international cricketer and captain who played from the early 1970s to the late 1980s for the Bombay (now Mumbai) cricket team and Indian national team. The Supreme Court of India appointed Gavaskar as the interim President of the BCCI March 28, 2014, primarily to oversee the seventh Season of the Indian Premier League. At the same time the Court had directed him to give up his job as a commentator.

Sourav Ganguly: Lovingly called Dada, Ganguly is an Indian cricket commentator and former captain of the Indian national team. He is all set to be appointed as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and president of the Editorial Board with Wisden India.
