Bhubaneswar, Sept 6: DPS Kalinga scraped past St. Joseph 4-3 in the final to emerge champions of the Kalinga Marine Penalty-kick football tournament at the Unit-VI High School Ground here Sunday.
In the exciting final encounter, DPS converted four of their five chances, while St. Joseph could find the net only thrice. Goal keeper Gyanendra Bhanjdeo of the winning team stood like a rock to thwart two attacks of the opposition. He was adjudged the man of the match.
Football Association of Orissa vice president Bhakta Ballabha Das was present as the chief guest and distributed the prizes.
Masi bags gold
Masi Hantal bagged a gold medal in the U-13 55kg category of the Sub-junior National Judo Championship at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Saturday. Masi defeated a Delhi player in the final round. Orissa players grabbed a total of three medals in the competition.
