Nayagarh: Panic gripped the residents of Padmabati village under Fatehgarh police limits in Nayagarh district after a huge noise like that of some explosion triggered due to alleged ‘earthquake’ was heard in a temple nearby the village Tuesday noon.
Locals ran helter skelter out of their houses into open, fearing there was an earthquake.
Later, there was a huge crack developed in an area adjoining the local Rasabihari Temple. Moreover, portion of road were seen caved in many places near the village.
First, some children playing near the area spotted the crack soon after the loud noise and alerted the locals.
“A crack extending nearly 50-feet has been developed across the main road passing through the village. Moreover, many houses have also developed cracks following the natural disaster,” a local said.
The incident occurred around 2 PM in the afternoon. The reason behind the natural disaster is yet to be known as no officials have reached the village while the filing of this report.
