Loinsingha (Bolangir): An elderly man assaulted by his nephew diedSundayafter battling with life for more than 22 days at the government hospital here. The deceased was Ganeshwar Nanda (45) of Pesara village here.
The accused was Sachin Nanda (22). Deceased Nanda led a lonely life as he had no wife and kids. He lived in a church verandah after his thatched house collapsed in heavy rain. He survived with whatever he got from a school’s mid-day meal (MDM) scheme.
As per a police case, Sachin attacked Ganeshwar with a rod, critically injuring his head. The reason for the attack was not clear.
Ganeshwar was admitted to the government hospital, but his condition worsened. He was shifted to VIMSAR in Burla. He had returned after a little improvement in his health condition. However, he died due to complications from the injuries he received in the assault, police said.
