Baripada: An elephant was found dead in Similipal sanctuary in Mayurbhanj district Sunday. The jumbo was believed to be 8-year-old. The animal died in Gurundia beat of Jenabil section January 30, but the matter came to light Sunday, said deputy director of Similipal Tiger Reserve Jajnadatt Pati. The pachyderm is suspected to have died due to anthrax. Its post-mortem was carried out and the carcass was later buried, forest officials said.
